After a good dinner one can forgive anybody, even one’s own relations. – Oscar Wilde (Oscar Fingal O’Flahertie Wills Wilde)

During dinner, it may be necessary to excuse yourself for a telephone call. However, it is far preferable to have a phone brought to the table … as a general rule, white telephones go with fish and poultry, and black ones with anything else. If you are calling during dessert, a small after-dinner phone should be used … if you are satisfied, say something like, ‘Yes, it is a very nice, light telephone, with a good, clear tone and a smooth, almost velvety action.’  Miss Piggy
