" The World is a book, and those who do not travel read only a page." St. Augustine.

Australia, n. A country lying in the South Sea, whose industrial and commercial development has been unspeakably retarded by an unfortunate dispute among geographers as to whether it is a continent or an island.
Ambrose Bierce "The Devil’s Dictionary"

Child or angel, who can tell? (She may child to others be. She is angel unto me.)

"Christmas souvenir, 1893"

An Old Bush Road
Dear old road, wheel-worn and broken,
Winding thro’ the forest green,
Barred with shadow and with sunshine,
Misty vistas drawn between.
Grim, scarred bluegums ranged austerely,
Lifting blackened columns each
To the large, fair fields of azure,
Stretching ever out of reach.

Never deny the babies their Christmas ! It is the shining seal set upon a year of happiness.

"The Christmas holly"

The box-gum on my footpath grew up through the powerlines
its branches needed trimming every year,
with age the shady lady broke way out of its confines,
the council had enough now it’s not here.

They thought of public safety as the tree had posed a threat,
especially in a summer thunderstorm.
It seems bare on the footpath as I look out with regret,
next summer it will be a trifle warm.
